Oral Presentations in Professional Settings (Rhetoric 1223)

Oral Presentations in Professional Settings, Rhetoric 1223, introduces students to the skills and practices essential to delivering effective oral presentations in a variety of professional settings. This class goes beyond basic issues of “speech” to address the rhetorical framework of oral communication. We explore how subject matter, persona, audience, purpose, and context shape communication. The primary objective of this course is to prepare students to present arguments that demonstrate critical thinking.

Technical and Professional Writing

Technical and Professional Writing (Writing 3562w)

University of Minnesota, Twin Cities

Writing 3562w focuses on writing a variety of documents for technical audiences: letters, resumes, instructions, memos, proposals, and reports. Students select a client in their field of study for this class, and many of the documents they create are directed toward that client. This course stresses the importance of process, audience analysis, technical communication, oral communication, visual design and usability.

First-Year College Composition

Introduction to College Writing (English Composition 1)

California State University, Fresno

English 1, Introduction to College Writing, is a required first-year composition course designed to introduce the genres of written academic discourse.

English Composition Workshop (English 1/LA)

California State University, Fresno

English 1/LA is a supplemental workshop for those students with CSU English Placement Test (EPT) scores indicating a need for additional writing support. The workshop lab is a class section, meeting twice weekly. Students are enrolled concurrently with College English Composition, English 1.
