I wrote in my last blog post that teaching was taking a toll on my body.<\/p>\n
Friday night, I ended up in the emergency room after coughing blood for several hours. Blood is usually not a good sign.<\/p>\n
After x-rays, CT scans, and various tests, it was decided I have yet another case of bronchitis. I tend to get rather aggressive bronchitis infections, but I cannot recall one that led to clotting blood in my throat.<\/p>\n
Obviously, I\u2019m not feeling energetic. After teaching and grading papers, there isn\u2019t enough energy left to maintain blogging or a podcast schedule. I hope to feel better after various medications start to work.<\/p>\n
My immune system seems hyper-vigilant, and that\u2019s annoying. Every school year, I manage to get sick.<\/p>\n
When people ask if I get sick more often than other people, I\u2019m not sure how to answer. It seems a significant number of students start missing class in mid-October, with January and February being particularly bad months for medical absences. I don\u2019t miss work, thankfully. I do ask that students with fevers or getting over anything visit the clinic on campus and skip class until they are well.<\/p>\n
At least I tend to get sick on Friday and recover by Monday or Tuesday.<\/p>\n
