For the neurodiverse, spaces need to meet our distinct needs. The wrong space can cause stress and make it difficult to decompress. Dayna mentions that we might need quiet spaces, private areas, and other features in our homes.

Maybe you need space for books. Maybe you enjoy table games. As Dayna mentions, you need to imagine what you will do in a space and ask if the apartment or house will work for your personality and needs.

My Living Spaces

Most of us never get to live in our dream homes. I still love a floor plan we toured many years ago in California.

I like enclosed rooms with a purpose. I need a private office where I can work and be creative. I don’t really like great open rooms, but most new homes feature open floor plans with massive great rooms. I don’t mind large, purposeful areas, but I hate one large cavern for everything.

In my dream home, there’d be a home theatre room, two offices, and a game area for the family. We are pretty close to that in our Pennsylvania home. If we ever get it done, it would be my sanctuary. We’d need some bookcases, closet organizers, and some integrated storage in the home theatre.

<iframe loading="lazy" style="border: none" src="//html5-player.libsyn.com/embed/episode/id/7294544/height/90/theme/custom/thumbnail/yes/direction/backward/render-playlist/no/custom-color/336699/" height="90" width="100%" scrolling="no" 0="allowfullscreen" 1="webkitallowfullscreen" 2="mozallowfullscreen" 3="oallowfullscreen" 4="msallowfullscreen" class="iframe-class" frameborder="0">

Transcript

In progress…

The Autistic Me on Social Media

Blog: https://www.tameri.com/autisticme/

Podcast: https://autisticme.libsyn.com/

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/autisticme/

Twitter: https://twitter.com/autisticme

YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CSWyatt

LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/autisticme

Podcast 0021; Season 02, Episode 07; October 23, 2018 We discuss house hunting with Dayna Goldstein.
