Hello. I\u2019m Christopher Scott Wyatt, host of The Autistic Me Podcast.<\/p>\n

The following episode of The Autistic Me was recorded during a difficult time for our family. My wife had to be in California to help her family, while I remained in Texas with our two daughters. The sound quality isn\u2019t great and there are some interruptions during the recording session.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t reschedule this interview because my daughters and I really enjoyed screening the new feature film Tyson\u2019s Run, written and directed by Kim Bass. Promoting this film and other positive depictions of autistic people is why I blog and host the podcast.<\/p>\n

When the film\u2019s star, Major Dodson, agreed to appear on the podcast along with Kim Bass, I was thrilled. Major is a talented actor and inspiring autistic role model.<\/p>\n

While we watched Tyson\u2019s Run, my daughter Leigh kept pointing out when she recognized her autistic traits in the character of Tyson. I wanted to thank Major personally for what he had accomplished as an actor.<\/p>\n

The theatrical release of Tyson\u2019s Run was rescheduled from March 4 to March 11, 2022. Please look for screenings in your city and consider supporting this family-friendly film.<\/p>\n

When fifteen-year-old Tyson attends public school for the first time, his life is changed forever. While helping his father clean up after the football team, Tyson befriends champion marathon runner Aklilu. Never letting his autism hold him back, Tyson becomes determined to run his first marathon in hopes of winning his father’s approval.<\/p>\n

With the help of an unlikely friend and his parents, Tyson learns that with faith in yourself and the courage to take the first step, anything is possible.<\/p>\n

MAJOR DODSON is best known for his role of Sam Anderson on AMC\u2019s International smash hit series \u201cThe Walking Dead.\u201d Other projects include LEFT BEHIND, \u201cAmerican Horror Story,\u201d and \u201cRevolution.\u201d Dodson is currently featured in the inspirational drama TYSON\u2019S RUN in theaters Spring 2022. Dodson currently resides in Los Angeles, Calif.<\/p>\n

Kim Bass – Writer & Director<\/p>\n

Bass is an Emmy\u00ae-nominated screenplay and teleplay writer best known for his work on \u201cIn Living Color,\u201d \u201cSister, Sister\u201d and the Nickelodeon sitcom \u201cKenan & Kel.\u201d During his over twenty-five year career, Bass has worked as a writer for almost all of the major Hollywood studios and television networks as well as many prominent and independent film and television production companies including: Warner Brothers Studios; Twentieth Century Fox Studios; Disney Studios; Sony Pictures Studios and others. Currently, Bass is in post-production on his latest film, HeadShop, and pre-production on a faith-based Christmas film, Mother Johnson’s Miracle Christmas, scheduled to begin principal photography in the spring of 2022. In addition, Bass\u2019 film, Tyson\u2019s Run is scheduled to open theatrically, nationwide on March 11, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n
