The degree will be a semester late, at least.<\/p>\n<p>I had one infection after another, anemia, emergency room visits, blood and iron transfusions, a pinched <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Spinal nerve\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Spinal_nerve\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia\">spinal nerve<\/a>, surgery\u2026 and more infections. Add in a car accident and family things and life overtook my life plans.<\/p>\n<p>This happens, but I do not like it when a schedule slips. Unfortunately, lots of my scheduled tasks have slipped.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I need to finish my MFA paper and film, a screenplay that&#8217;s past-due, and several other projects. Plus, I need to find a job after I finish the degree.<\/p>\n<p>When I feel well, I need to work a lot to make up for the time I have lost and will inevitably lose in the future.\u00a0The panic caused by being off schedule causes my schedule to slip more, but I&#8217;m doing my best not to panic. It&#8217;s hard for me to not be distracted by the distraction that is life.<\/p>\n<p>My wife reminds me to work ahead whenever I am well enough, for the inevitable crash. My body will fail me. My mind will be exhausted. I work frantically to be ready to take a day or two (or more) off for those offline days.<\/p>\n<p>The MFA had been going well, right up until what should have been the final semester.
