This page lists various resources I have consulted in developing my website on existentialism. Many of the books are difficult to find, especially in the United States. Still, major universities and large libraries should be able to locate and share these valuable works.<\/p>\n
\nMost, but not all, book titles and ISBNs referenced are linked to Amazon.com listings.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
I suggest any books by Walter Kaufmann. If you must read simplified overviews, the \u201cVery Short Introduction\u201d series is a good choice. I also recommend the \u201c\u2026 for the Perplexed\u201d series. For younger readers, the Totem Books \u201cIntroducing\u201d series, and most of the Writers & Readers \u201c\u2026for Beginners\u201d titles are better than most. Still, small little pocket guides are not going to be more than superficial overviews.<\/p>\n

I cite biographies and autobiographies frequently, attempting to place works in context. Books and lectures exist within history. Some of the works listed in this section are a mix of biography and commentary. If the biographical information is substantial enough, I opted to include the work in both sections of the works cited list.<\/p>\n
Journals and Periodicals<\/h2>\n
There are (and in too many cases were) some excellent academic journals dedicated to philosophy. Some mass audience publications also promoted philosophy to a broader audience.<\/p>\n

One thing about books on existentialism: many carry the title Existentialism<\/em>. This lack of creative naming makes locating a specific work a challenge unless you know the author, publisher, and year of the work.
