My Ambivalence on Autistic Disclosure
My experiences suggest coworkers, supervisors, and education in general don’t embrace autistics in the workplace. Yet, deciding not to disclose to people outside human resources can lead to other problems. There’s no good approach to disclosure. You cannot hide or mask autistic traits; everyone notices soon enough. However, people remain uncomfortable and afraid of autistics (except the shining examples in media).
