Back Online, Slowly Rebuilding

The week of Thanksgiving, 2023, our server suffered a catastrophic reset. Though we maintain backups of everything, restoring our various blogs and websites will take time. Nothing is lost, which is good. The reset was my fault, as I was migrating the WordPress installation and made the mistake of first using our hosting service’s tools. In the end, a manual migration worked.

I migrated the complete Tameri website and blogs because Dreamweaver was no longer convenient or viable as a website maintenance tool.  Dreamweaver was that loyal friend I never wanted to leave behind, even as it became a burden. I relied on the template feature, ensuring pages had consistent layouts and menus. I was proud of what I coded; I regret it is time to move forward.

WordPress has many flaws but offers far more flexibility than the static HTML approach permits. Edit anywhere, on almost any device. Grammarly works within WordPress. If I notice a change should be made to a page, I no longer have to load Dreamweaver and carefully edit code.

Goodbye, Dreamweaver. Thanks for the many years.
