Pennsylvania Patio Pals
Riley appeared during the late spring of 2016, becoming a frequent visitor to our backyard and patio by the end of summer 2016. He went from being a tiny white puffball to being a “normal” sized cat during the winter of 2016-17. During the winter, he was joined outside by a similar-looking white and orange kitty.
At first, we assume Riley was a timid little girl and River was an aggressive male. Only after trapping them both did we learn Riley was the male.

River, Feisty and Fearful
Only a few months older than her assumed brother, River was alone long enough to develop a deep fear of people.
After moving to Texas, River spent most of her days in the front bedroom/office.
River had a sudden blood clot or heart attack on the evening of December 15, 2024. Susan went to give River her nightly treats and found River hiding under Scott’s desk, resting on her side and barely breathing. Scott rushed her to the emergency vet clinic at 10 p.m. and sat with her. The vet determined River was experiencing heart failure and had significant fluid in her chest. River was released from her pain at 10:50 p.m., purring gently in Scott’s arms.
