Transcript

Hello and welcome to The Autistic Me Podcast. I am Christopher Scott Wyatt, an autistic parent of two neurodiverse young daughters.

Receiving accurate diagnoses and appropriate supports for any autistic can be challenging. However, my wife and I have noticed young women face additional obstacles. Social challenges might be dismissed as shyness, for example.

Diagnostic rates differ among genders globally, suggesting a serious international problem.

Also, some experts suggest autistic women of all ages suffer greater anxiety, possibly connected to social pressures on young women to conform to social norms.

Joining us for this episode of The Autistic Me is Kathy Carter, an autistic self-advocate, therapist, and counselor.
